The Portland International Film Festival

The Portland International Film Festival features films from over 60 different countries. Each year the festival has a new visual theme that includes posters, collateral, and merchandise. For the 41st year, we came up with the theme of hot air balloons with abstract flag graphics, representing the international countries coming together. The festival takes place every February, a typically gray, cold and wet time of year in Portland. The bright colors of the balloons add a pop of color around the city as the films illuminate tens of thousands of viewers in multiple theaters across the city.

My Role: Design lead and art direction for the festival theme, poster design, festival collateral and style guidelines. Made while at Sandstrom Partners. Illustrations by Always with Honor
